One of the easiest ways to build a cheap portable greenhouse is to gather together materials from plumbing projects that have leftovers. Using ABS pieces or copper tubing is the materials of choice that are readily available to put together a frame that will hold vapour barrier pieces that you can scotch tape or tie to the frame. It is really up to you how big you want it and even if you want to get a little fancy with it and add shelves, or even a method of automatic sprinkler watering. With ABS or copper tubing you can get sprinkler heads that can mount in line with the tubing and you can pressurize your frame and have it water the plants and seedlings in a timed automatic format if you want. Of course this isn’t necessary but it just adds some degree of coolness to the project. So maybe over the course of this autumn and winter here is a project that you can work on. Check out the plan shown here and feel free to modify it anyway you choose. Send us a portable greenhouse plan you have if you like and we may put it up on here. Enjoy the building of your cheap portable greenhouse!

If you live in the northern climates that get snow and colder weather, the months of February and March are the perfect time to buy a portable greenhouse. This will allow an avid gardener the opportunity to get a jump start on a vegetable garden or flower garden. Purchasing a portable greenhouse actually can save you money in the long run by extending your growing season. Having vegetables to eat that are free or nearly free is a cost advantage over running to the grocery store to buy them. Also if you are one of those people who decorate their home with lots of flowers in the summer you will save money starting off the seedlings yourself and have them ready to transplant, instead of again running to the garden store to buy them. A portable green house can be an indoor installation or an outdoor one. Usually people with limited space will set up an indoor mini greenhouse that can sit on a window sill or somewhere with sunshine. A mini greenhouse is a great idea as a gift for a gardener with limited space that they will enjoy using. Because of the need for a greenhouse by a gardener in the spring a great time to buy a portable greenhouse would be at Christmas time as it is just prior to the need by a few months. We put up links on this sites home page that will direct you to pages from Amazon that we feel are the best mini greenhouse buys as well as recommended portable greenhouses. We actually own a few of them and know that these types are the best ones to purchase. You can also check out the many greenhouse accessories like heaters, and watering systems that are available.
Jumps start your gardening and get a portable greenhouse today!

I Live in northern california near sacramento and it gets very hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. I just thought of a great idea to build a greenhouse or assemble a hot house in my backyard. i have an empty sideyard that woud be a great place for a tropical hot house. In the house i would have vines, palm trees, orchids, bramiliads, and any type of tropical rainforest plant. it would bhave misters that go off every so often to keep the house humid as well as a special heater to keep it heated to the correct temp. In the summer when it can easily get 100 degrees, i would have special window vents i could open so the breeze could blow through and fans to pump out the hot air.
I was hoping i coul have the sides of the house made out of wood, and the top made out of that fiberglss wavy sheet material.i want a secure place to go to get away from my parents when i have a hard time (my family and i dont get along very well) and will feel very safe if the sides are closed
. Im just not sure if i did that that enough light could get in.

I think it would be great because i could have it heated to the correct temp and humidity. Then i could raise exotic rainforest plants. I could also have exotic butterflys, frogs, and a pond with tropical fish in it! I hve been keeping plants and fish since i was little and i think i would love to have my own rainforest to get away from all the stress i have in my life.

I would like to build the house about 6 feet wide and 15 feet long
